This is a staple "chain" in Minneapolis. I stopped in to grab some lunch after a late work day and realized that I should eat something. :) I ordered 2 salads to go and the staff was so friendly. The restaurant was very quiet - in between lunch and dinner rush but the staff was so kind to help me and didn't rush me at all. I really enjoyed my salads which were packaged in nice containers that didn't stink up my car or have potential to spill all over. I will be sure to go back!

D'Amico and Sons is a quaint little spot to go on your own for lunch or dinner. They are constantly making different menu items, but you can always count on something good. When you walk in the main pasta salads and mixes are all in the glass case to view. If you are unsure, they will let you taste it first. If it's available, I try to order this cold brusell sprout salad! They also have soups, hot or cold sandwiches, pasta meals, and pizzas, all prepared once you order. The food is brought out to your table hot and fresh. In the summer, I enjoy eating out on the patio next to the water fountain. This is my favorite D'Amico locations due to the atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, and patio. Bonus-Sign up for their email updates and get a free meal in your birthday month! They also have date night that changes every month, but typically you can get a bottle of wine, 2 meals and dessert for $30.

I eat here a lot for lunch on my day off. They have my favorite cookie ever (double chocolate) so it's my special treat. It's kinda pricey for sandwiches and salads but I think they're good. And the cookie... My only real complaint is that they don't provide nutrition info on their website. When I asked for it in the store they said they didn't have it either. I'm doing weight watchers and would really like to know how bad my special cheat treat is!

I couldn't agree more with Lauren S. below. D'Amico is my old faithful - it never disappoints. The things I love (for this location in particular and other generalities) are below: -Service - The workers always seem really happy to take my order. I can't say that of most "chain" establishments. -Atmosphere - it is large but never gets too noisy to have a conversation or get work done. -Wifi - They don't offer the wifi but if you sit near Starbucks you can tap into theirs - Now before you judge me, I get my Starbucks every morning before work. I just don't get to use the wifi then so I use it when I visit D'Amico :) . -Food - My favorites are the tuna panini, cherry/chicken salad, and their basic mixed green salad (always fresh!) -Drink - Sparkling water! (enough said) -Happy hour - they now have a 4-6 PM HH. -People watching - This particular location is near Kare 11 and I've had a few Belinda Jensen sightings - who doesn't love Belinda! I think the only thing that would make it better would be some sort or frequent visitor program. I find myself here too often to get some work done. I like this over here better than Starbucks because they seem to have more open tables here.

Heard they had great pizza, but crust was dry, tasteless and hard like cardboard with tomato paste sauce. Salad tiny, wine with dinner B- like vinegar. Nice company, bad food. Sorry~ they do have good lemon bars however!

What I love about D'amicos is it is so reliable. It never disappoints. Their caesar salad is always good and their pizzas are great. We had the artichoke pizza which was delicious. The best is the free wine refills. I am thrilled to have a restaurant in the Western Suburbs that I know I can get a good meal at. The highlight of this visit was the waitress/hostess from the South. She was a breath of fresh air and couldn't have been nicer.

They got rid of my favorite salad - the veggies/motz/asparagus...sad feelings!

D'Amico is a great place for lunch. They have a combo where you choose 2 half soup/sandwich/salad for under $8, which is a pretty good deal. My favorite salad is the chicken & apple salad; it's delicious. The chicken gorgonzola is also amazing - bacon & gorgonzola - yum. Sandwiches: tuna melt, roast turkey bacon club, hot italian & roast turkey with avocado are my favorite ones. The combo is the perfect amount of food & reasonably priced. With so many tasty combinations, you will never get sick of eating here!

I love coming here...it is as if subway went to italy for ten years and came back to teach the masses about how a sandwich shop can me. The soup here is flavorful and pairs perfectly with the rosemary chicken salad sandwich. Yum! Great spot for lunch!

D'Amico and Sons is always busy it seems, and with good reason. It's a good place to stop in and get a quick bite -- a nice cross between a sit-down Italian restaurant and something faster, cheaper and less good. D'Amico is one of those places where you get in line and order and then get a number for your table. They make your food and bring it to you. One thing I will say is that the employees at this location are really friendly. Even though they were very busy we were greeted immediately in a friendly and genuine way. Even though there are no waiters, someone checked on us once our food was delivered and fetched us some bread lickety split when we asked. The food itself was good -- the salads are nice and fresh and really tasty, and I got the fettucine bolognase, which was also really tasty. I felt like the sauce was a tad bit on the thin side but the flavor really made up for it. Pasta was good. The desserts looked excellent but we did not try them. Maybe next time. We were also sent on our way with a friendly "have a great night!" It also appeared that they have a pretty robust takeout business, which is a nice option if you're on the go.

A lovely, quaint restaurant with nice staff, people, and food. The scratch-made and natural ingredient philosophy, make this such a fun and reliable lunch and dinner spot that you can always count on something good. Bonus-Sign up for their email updates and get a free meal in your birthday month! For my birthday I had the Spicy Shrimp spaghetti...very yummy! My mom had the pizza...I had a taste and thought that was good, too! My mom liked my pasta as well. Of course I had to get dessert it was my birthday after all... the coconut cake was very good! Very cozy, casual and nice atmosphere. Two thumbs up!

This is slow food... fast! I was here in the summer over a year ago. I had the salmon. We came with my son, DIL, and gdaughter (1YO at the time). It was great to order, sit, get our GOOD food, and be able to walk around with the gdaughter when she was "all done". The place is clean and has a nice outside patio near a fountain and Starbucks! So... Gdaughter number 2 came along. I was in MN helping out with the new baby. It was BELOW ZERO out, with ice and snow. I found out this place DELIVERS! Woo-hoo. Neither DIL nor I wanted to cook... so we ordered for delivery. The order shows up in less than 30 minutes. It was so convenient. we could all stay toasty warm in the house and still get a nice dinner. I got the salmon dinner and asked for veggies instead of the farro. I tried the farro before and just wasn't thrilled. But the veggies hit the spot. The salmon was pretty good, but a bit overdone. It wasn't overdone when i ate at the restaurant. Maybe it cooked more as it sat in the "to go" container... who knows.Still... I can't complain. The staff is always very helpful and patient when you ask for substitutions. I can't wait for summer again to go back and sit on the patio!

Enjoyed "date night" on Saturday night (a great night for a restaurant to offer a date night special). $32 for either a bottle of wine or two bottomless chianti/pinot grigio, two salads and two entrees--from a selection of four. We tired the bottomless glass. The wine was ok, but I might think about the bottle next time. The salads were great (although maybe make sure the plates are cold--I think they came right out the dishwasher, which might not be the best for cold lettuce). For our entrees we chose the shrimp scampi--a little bland and I would likely choose something else next time and the vegetable risotto--which I would for sure get again! The couple with us also chose the scampi and the chicken penne--which I think I would get next time! It was a little strange how uneven the portions were. One couple got loaded salads and large portions of pasta, the other couple got a little skimpier portion of all. All in all we will go again, enjoy the outdoor patio, and the friendly staff.

An easy, hassle-free and tasty dinner. Kind of like an upscale Panera where you order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. But aside from just soup, salad and sandwiches, they serve pizza, pasta and even fish. I was most excited about the wide array of "side dishes" on display that at least appeared fresh (particularly in comparison to some of the grocery stores/co-ops that offer side dishes). Their combo deal (pick 2: salad, soup, 1/ sandwich, side) seemed like the best value. For under $9, I got a half a veggie sandwich and a side dish of golden beets with goat cheese. The beets dish was really delicious while the sandwich was nothing to rave about. I also had a bite of my bf's tuna melt. Not blown away by this either. I'd go back for the delicious and fresh side dishes. And I'd probably give another sandwich a shot too.

Good food. I had the Hot Italian sandwich, chips & pop $12.10. Still hungry. Fairly expensive for this area. That said it was rely good food.

The food here is pretty good. The prices are not, especially for the level of service received. You have to wait in line (sometimes a long line) to pay a cashier, then you have to sit down and wait again for your food. And you're not guaranteed to find a seat when it's busy. The line in general is confusing, and it operates differently at night than it does during the day. For the prices they charge, there should be full table service - no waiting in a cafeteria-style line.

As far as "chain" Italian restaurants go, D'Amico is a definite favorite. The scratch-made and natural ingredient philosophy, combined with the plethora of really unique menu options make this such a fun and reliable place to go for lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is very casual, but everything has a little Italian touch and the staff is friendly and patient. The Monday through Saturday happy hour from 4pm-6pm is unbeatable for beer and pizza. They offer bottomless wine and seasonal and daily specials for their entrees and soups. My family tells me the outdoor seating is wonderful during the warmer months, but the indoor is seating extremely casual with the self-serve drink station and paper-napkin place settings. Your order is placed at the counter and cold food is picked up immediately. If any hot entrees are ordered, you are given a number for your table and the food is brought out when ready. Everything at our table was very good. I am a huge fan of pumpkin, so the pumpkin ravioli was screaming my name. The walnut pesto made the dish savory and the pumpkin added a slight sweetness; both made for a comforting and well-portioned entree. The salad and small pizza at our table were amazing in both taste and originality. Happy hour pizza prices can't be beat, and the size of the pies make them great to split at the table. Other portion sizes may be on the smaller side for the prices, but the quality is way above average and you feel satisfied after your meal. Desserts looked extremely tempting, and the beer and wine prices were extremely fair. Everything is offered as take-out, but the cold items in the deli case like the pastas and cold sandwiches are ready for immediate pickup. The entire dining room offers a view of the front kitchen where the chef preps and cooks some of the entrees. I hope they don't become too much of a "franchised" business, but at the same time continue to expand while retaining the quality and philosophy that makes them great.

Is it time for a summer Sunday drive to Golden Valley? Yes. Thank you D'Amico and Sons for the free kids meals on Sunday, but I'm there bc of the great patio. Would my kids like to run around the fountain while I enjoy more wine? Yes. The food is solid. Salads, sandwiches, pasta, nothing that is life changing but always very good. The Caprese Panini is especially tasty. In December they typically offer the restaurant buy $100 get another $25 deal. Stop at Wirth Park on your way home to Minneapolis. You won't be sorry. Uptown location? You'll do during winter, but I'ma headed to the burbs when it is warm.

If you've ever been to a D'amico's, you know what to expect here. Same delicious food, same glass counter, same great help, same laid-back Italian atmosphere. If you haven't been, check out the delicious strawberry/feta/walnut salad. It really is something else, although it'll cost you a ten spot for a seat-yourself restaurant. My beau has had the specials a couple of nights and has never gone wrong. The staff at this location is particularly warm and welcoming. This is really a perfect place for that "I don't feel like cooking, do you?" night -- and you're not really wanting to pick something pre-frozen off a menu.

Can't miss for Italian salads, pastas and sandwiches. The Turkey & Dried Cherry Pasta Salad is great!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
